BWoSCC Clinical Director nominated for award

A leading NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde oncologist has been nominated for a Scottish Women’s Award 2023.
Dr Ioanna Nixon, Clinical Director of the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre (BWoSCC), has been named as a finalist in the Service in Medicine category.
Each nominee has demonstrated “dedication, innovation and leadership in their fields, showcasing the diversity and strength of talent present among Scottish women.”
Dr Nixon, who is also a published children's author, said: “There is a quote by Hippocrates that says ‘Where there is a love of medicine, there is a love of humanity.’
“This deeply resonates with me, who I am, and my story.
“I am humbled and grateful to be nominated for this award, celebrating the successes of so many women, who like are devoted to improving the lives of people, directly or indirectly.
“As Clinical Director, my priority and mission is to foster excellent, timely, person-centred care for patients, and promote workforce wellbeing.
“My aim is to help and support anyone with ill-health, through evidence-based education and practical tools to improve their wellbeing and resilience and feel empowered and in control, driven by science and compassion.
“Because, if, as Hippocrates says, where there is a love of medicine, there is a love of humanity, let us shine this love back to our society.”.

The winners of the Scottish Women’s Awards 2023 will be announced at a glamorous event that will take place on Saturday 16th September at Glasgow Marriott Hotel. The evening will feature captivating performances, keynote speeches, and opportunities to learn from some of Scotland’s most accomplished women.
