Imaging

Although each patient’s radiotherapy treatment journey differs, many steps in the treatment process will involve some form of imaging to check anatomical position, and identify the treatment target.

A small team of staff in this section provide scientific support for all aspects of imaging at the Beatson Cancer Centre. They run a comprehensive program of quality assurance for all imaging equipment, such as the CT simulators, MRI scanner, and treatment room imaging systems. They support the commissioning of new equipment and the integration of imaging data into the treatment process.

The team also provides support for new developments, such as image-guided Brachytherapy, MRI-based Brachytherapy, and the integration of PET-CT into RT planning.
