Acute Oncology Assessment Unit (AOAU)
The AOAU is a 9 bedded day case area located within Ward B5, next to the Enhanced Care Unit. The AOAU also houses the triage centre for the Beatson Cancer Treatment Helpline.
The AOAU is for patients who:
- Require urgent assessment
- Require monitoring
- Have treatment or disease related problems.
The ward is staffed by Advanced Nurse Practitioners and other nursing staff, with medical back up as required. Patients are referred by clinical staff and from the Beatson Cancer Treatment Helpline.
The ward is open 8am to 8pm (last admission 6pm), Monday to Friday including public holidays with the exception of Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
Enter the hospital from the main entrance. Go through the main reception hall past the Aroma Cafe, turn left to the lift hall. Take the lift to the 3rd floor. On leaving the lift go through the double doors and turn left. The AOAU is the 2nd ward on this floor within Ward B5 and is on your right-hand side.
There is an intercom at the entrance to the ward, if you press the button the receptionist or nursing staff will open the doors to let you into the ward.
