Ward B5: Enhanced Care Unit (ECU)
The Enhanced Care Unit (ECU) provides 4 Enhanced Care beds and supports patients who become more unwell across all areas of the Beatson.
The unit if for patients who
- Require continual monitoring
- Enhanced Care Services
The ward is staffed by an critical care nurse and oncology nurse supported by patients medical team, acute physician team and consultant anaesthetist.
This ward is always open.
Enter the hospital from the main entrance. Go through the main reception hall past the Aroma Cafe, turn left to the lift hall. Take the lift to the 3rd floor. On leaving the lift go through the double doors and turn left. The ECU is the 2nd ward on this floor within Ward B5 and is on your right-hand side.
There is an intercom at the entrance to the ward, if you press the button the receptionist or nursing staff will open the doors o let you into the ward.

Nursing Staff:
Nursing staff rotate through the ECU service for 3-4 month blocks. Critical care staff rotate from QEUH Critical Care areas and Beatson staff come from all in patient wards
